"Trek Development Group is preparing to build a 42-unit apartment building in the second phase of the Mellon’s Orchard South development on North Beatty Street.
William Gatti, Trek president and CEO, said some of the units will be reserved for former Penn Plaza residents, although he did not have an exact number.
Trek is expected to brief the city planning commission on the second phase of housing next week.
Of the 42 units, 33 will have one bedroom and nine will have two bedrooms. More than 70% of the units will be affordable to households at or below 60% of the area median income, Mr. Gatti said. The rest will be market rate.
