On August 13, 2020, Governor Wolf announced that TREK Development Group was awarded Housing Tax Credits for two developments: McKean Street Housing, Kittanning PA and Harvard Beatty Street Housing, Pittsburgh PA. The federal tax credits are administered by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and were approved by its board.
McKean Street Housing was awarded $1, 103,261 in Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Transforming the vacant lot of the former Kittanning Middle school, this 36 unit of mixed income senior (62+) apartment building will offer 1- and 2-bedroom units. With 30 affordable units, McKean Street Housing will provide needed affordable housing options while beautifying the streetscape. This is the second senior housing community TREK has developed in Kittanning, PA. Kittanning Cottages is located just a few blocks away from McKean Street Housing. Construction to begin Spring 2021.
Harvard Beatty Street Housing was awarded $1,044,212 in Low Income Housing Tax Credits and $740,000 in National Housing Trust Fund Awards. Located in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood, this mixed income community will have a total of 42 units (32 LIHTC units and 10 Market Rate units). Harvard Beatty Street Housing is TREK’s second phase of the Mellon’s Orchard South project completing the transformation of a large parking lot on the fringe of East Liberty’s business district to a vibrant mixed income community. Construction is anticipated to begin Summer 2021.
